Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The first album she released on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the web, including her own released single Bound. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes the track"Sweat It Out. Later that year her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. In December 2008, it was revealed that Rihanna had hired by Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. She also appeared in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas the label's co-founders. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The first single, called Whipped Cream, from the album came out in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. Then, on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 2013 she dropped No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It then came out as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with her debut album. The song was followed by a music video on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube within its first seven days. As a supporting act, she toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
